BBc website report on Tom Yorke warning bands about major record labels going ‘down’.  Unfortunately it seems what efects the co-orporates effects the smaller labels down the chain too.  Its all fine for the established artist who has already a  established a global voice for the songs via big labels or family/ friends connections – but what of the latest talents .. voices of the 2010’s and beyond.  It really is a life of hardship, knocks and generally tough times for any artists who is born to do what they do.  The demise of the music industry, lack of money and the dog eat dog survival tactic is effecting everyone .. most of all the new blood of music makers.

The biggest selling albums of last year were Lady Gaga (Whose label is owned by Universal, and who make most their money thru films) & Susan Boyle (simon cowell- the man who single handedly killed credible music for generations) .  Seriously if thats the direction of creativity then there is no hope.

Radiohead singer Thom Yorke has told aspiring musicians to avoid the “sinking ship” of major record labels.

Giving advice to young artists in a new school textbook, he said: “When the corporate industry dies it will be no great loss to the world.

“So, I guess I would say, don’t tie yourself to the sinking ship because, believe me, it’s sinking.”
