Allergic to milk? Not any more!!

cow pic Scientist in New Zealand have created a cow the produces milk free of the protein Beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) which causes an allergic reaction among many people who cannot drink milk. In developing countries it is common for young children below the age of 3 years to have problems digesting this proteins, and as a result many parents are advised to swap the children to powdered milk which has these particular proteins removed through bleaching and other processes. It is worth mentioning that this new type of GM milk will not be suitable for people who are lactose intolerant a condition that refers to the inability to digest the sugars in milk - Lactose. So it is possible that in the future this BGL free milk could make it on to the selves of a supermarket close to you!! Is this a good or a bad thing you decide???
