Acoustic headliner Larry Love featuring Brendan O’Connell play an exclusive set for FFRUK Reggae Punk Night and you thought only Nick Cave and Johnny Cash could do murder ballads? Wrong, take a listen to Larry Love (Alabama 3) and Brendan O’Connell (Ghostflighters) and revise your thought processes! They say that white men can’t sing the blues, but this one can, all the way from the Thames Delta with jazz-infused blues meeting Americana outpourings, infusing Merle Haggard with rebel resistance songs. The pair normally play together as Robert Love’s Ghostflighters and are a regular draw around the Brixton area in particular, their songs echoing the 12 Bar ghosts with their rich blend of poignancy and heartfelt tunes of hope, redemption, despair and all things in-between! A worthy headliner for the night that’s turning Monday into the new Friday!

Music lovers the news is in, fans of Glam, Punk and rock n’ roll look no further as here is an event that will sweeten your lobes as Sylvain Sylvain of The New York Dolls is gonna be in town on 25th July at the legendary 100 club in London for a night of swinging tunes from the creative Dolls Guitarsinger. Expect
classic Dolls numbers he penned such as the anthemed “Trash” the ludicrous gem that is “Puss n’ Boots” and the monster that is “Frankenstein” from his New York Dolls repertoire which he co wrote with David Johansen
and went on to write other greats for Johansen’s solo stuff such as “Frenchette” and “Funky But Chic” which he went to do after The Dolls first split in 1975. In 1979 Slyvain released his first solo album which featured “Teenage News” which Morrissey covered when he was in The Nosebleeds. Talking of which Morrissey got the Dolls to reform for his 2004 Meltdown Festival which featured Gary Powell of The Libertines on Drums and he’s back playing with Sylvain in his new line-up. I would expect Sylvain to be playing his current stuff such as the recent “Leaving New York”.
Supporting Sylvains Dolls are “The Duel” Now-Wave Proto Punks from London fronted by femme Tara Rez they will be unleashing their 21st century signature themes of positivity and will also add a touch of glam to the proceedings. The Duel are currently finishing off Album no 5 and about to start a residency at Londons Madame Jo-Jos
Also the night shall be starting off with “The Bears” who will be playing old school punk from their catalogue l can’t workout if this is the same Bears that came out of Watford in the 70s if it is this will make things very interesting indeed
In an interview and photoshoot for The Sun’s Fabulous magazine’s Age issue, published on Sunday June 2, Blondie front woman and living legend Debbie Harry opens up about sex over 60, the dating scene and cosmetic surgery.
Debbie, who sold 40 million records worldwide as part of the ’70s rock band and paved the way for the likes of Gwen Stefani and Lady Gaga, says she still has strong sexual desires and feels just as sexy at 67 as she did in her 20s: “Whether it’s just pure sex or having that physical contact, sex is very important. Most people need it.”
It was about a year ago that we sent an SOS press alert to all that we knew as a few of us tried to salvage a festival that had suddenly had to close due to shortage of money, even though there were many unhappy punters there.
DIY Together was the very special but last minute rescue operation that was put together that ended up being one of the most amazing weekends people had experienced.
Many say it will go down in Punk Rock history, likening the vibe and spirit similar to the one at the Roxy back in 77 when punk rock was born.
So due to popular demand a charity weekend festival to mark the anniversary of the mess up that was Punk by the Sea, and the triumph of the ensuing D.I.Y Together event, where a few peoples hard work and the spirit of punk rock saw an event rise like a pheonix from the flames and make history in a small Pompey pub.
This will be in aid of local cancer charity, Rowans Hospice. Music will be acoustic, (or almost acoustic) in the front bar , and full on in the Barn.
The Duel, will be travelling up to Nottingham this weekend to perform with a dozen other Uk DIY punk bands, all working together to raise money for street children. Looking forward to it, and here is some info for you X

The German artist Iris Schieferstein, has worked with dead animals as raw material for her pieces of art for many years. She joins the fragments together to new creatures and thus gives a new face to death. No matter, if her arrangements follow paintings of the great masters of art or if the joined objects turn out to be whole words – her work always gives evidence of aesthetic intuition and her inclination to subtle entertainment. The earlier you die – the longer you are dead.
