Fresh from an award-winning Soho-run, FFRUK’s Reggae-Punk Mondays have moved into a new residency at the 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street, London and following on from the historic first unplugged performance from RUTS DC in 37 years on the opening Monday, Week 2 gets down, dirty and sleazy with a rare headline set from the DAVE KUSWORTH BAND.
The guitarist himself was a key member of garage trash faves The Jacobites with ex-Swell Maps, Nikki Sudden, prior to which he did time in Dogs D’Amour, The Hawks with Stephen “Tin Tin” Duffy and TV Eye. With a sound akin to the bastard son of Keith Richards crossed with Neil Young and invoking the ghost of Johnny Thunders, this sure as hell isn’t a gig you want to miss! Indeed from Glitterhouse, Bomp and Creation Records to Robespierre’s Velvet Basement, Dave Kusworth has punk’n’rolled with the best! So expect an incendiary performance from one of the originators of the English trash scene!
London’s own nuclear nu-wavers THE DUEL, who are also curating the event, will be playing a set of their urban punk tales and the varied supports include the punkvert project of ANARCHISTWOOD
with their fuzz-drenched, prank-rock, techno-velvet stomp and the Jeff Buckley-inspired edgy-pop of singer/songwriter WILL SID SMITH,
whose “Never Forget” single has garnered critical acclaim from a number of top publications! So get on down to the 12 Bar on 17th February 2014, where all this entertainment can be experienced for the unbelievably recession-beating price of £3-00, from 8 till late and featuring SEGS from RUTS DC spinning the tunes
and Bart Barton as the spirit of Andy Warhol, hosting the event! The event is also being streamed live on www.ffruk.com/ffrukmonday, so you can catch all the action if you decide to be a stay-at-home and for some strange reason won’t be attending – doh!
So just remember FFRUK’s Reggae-Punk nights now make Monday seem like a Friday!!!
