recently, in an interview with the New Yorker magazine Barack Obama said “As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life,” he said. “I don’t think it is more dangerous than alcohol.”
This statement is not surprising – we know for a fact through intensive scientific research that cannabis is far safer than alcohol and compares closest to caffeine in regard to its harm on the user.
What this leaves to question is that If cannabis is safer than alcohol (which isn’t a scheduled drug), then why is it still classed as a schedule I drug (the group of substances defined as the most harmful to the user) according to federal law in the US.
